Subject: MOSciBo: Cyber Challenge
As announced at the Scrimmage, the Missouri Regional Science Bowl is providing a new event in 2020: the Cyber Challenge. This is a brand new pilot activity for 2020, and the Missouri Regional Science Bowl is only one of a handful of regions hosting it in partnership with the National Science Bowl. Teams not participating in the afternoon semi-finals will collaborate with their teammates in the computer-based Cyber Challenge – competing for a prize to be presented at the end of the day awards ceremony!
What you need to know about the Cyber Challenge:
The event is for all teams not competing in the double elimination/ semi-finals (teams to be determined after morning rounds)
The event will begin at ~2:00 pm and will last about 90 minutes
The event room will be designated on the day’s schedule of events
Coaches, parents, siblings, and other visitors are not permitted to observe the Cyber Challenge - Only participating teams and a select volunteers will be in the room
Collaboration is between teammates only. Separate teams cannot work together on the event.
What each team needs to bring to the Missouri Regional Science Bowl:
Since we won’t know which teams will participate in the double elimination/semi-finals and which will participate in the Cyber Challenge, we ask each team to bring the following:
Fully charged, wifi-enable laptop with Chrome or Firefox browser installed (1 per team)
Extra power cord
Computer mouse (Optional)
If a school has more than one team, please have each team bring a set of the above items.
What each team needs to provide before February 14th: Team Name
Each team will use this name as their identifier during the Cyber Challenge. We’ll be pre-registering each team before the event. Please reply back to this email by February 14th with the name each of your teams will use.
Please respond to this email with any questions, and each team’s selected name.
MoSciBo 2020 is just around the corner, and we’re so excited to see your teams at Washington University on February 22nd!
