Moderator Information

The following materials can be used to help you learn the role of moderator.  To be a moderator for the competition you need to have a science/math background and be able to pronounce scientific terms well.

  • View a portion of the final round from the 2015 National event on YouTube, paying special attention to the person reading the questions. (28:21 is when the questions begin.)

  • Read the these rules and get familiar with them, starting on Section 3.  Part of your job is to enforce the rules, so the better you know them, the more comfortable you will be.

  • Read the moderator training sheet

  • You may also want to look at the scorekeeper and timer training sheets for additional information.

  • The National Science Bowl website has sample middle school questions available.

Thank you for volunteering!
